IAP Wins Honduras Power Plant Contract

CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla., Feb. 9, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- IAP Worldwide Services, Inc. announced today that it has been awarded a contract under the Mobile Alabama Corps of Engineers to provide Operations and Maintenance (O&M) for the power plant at the Joint Task Force Bravo base located at Soto Cano, Honduras.  The contract has a three-year period of performance beginning June 2, 2015, with a total potential value of approximately $9 million. 

IAP will be responsible for the entire O&M package and the primary electrical distribution that powers the U.S. side of Soto Cano AFB, including maintenance and repairs to the generators and the existing Medium and High Voltage (MV-HV) electrical systems.  The project consists of seven personnel and five generators with a capacity total of 7MW and the Primary electrical distribution substation.  IAP will subcontract much of the contract's efforts to local companies with oversight from IAP's Program Management offices in Cape Canaveral and Panama City, Florida.

Soto Cano Air Base (commonly known as Palmerola Air Base) is located to the south of Comayagua in Honduras.  It houses several hundred U.S. troops and is the home of the Honduran Air Force Academy and headquarters for the U.S. military's Joint Task Force Bravo (JUF-B).  The U.S. military uses Soto Cano as a launching point for counter drug missions in Central America as well as humanitarian aid missions throughout Honduras and Central America.
