Sencore Announces New Support for DVB S2+ Roll-Off Filters
SIOUX FALLS, S.D., Aug. 13, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Sencore announces support for additional roll-off filters across the company's full line of satellite modulators and receiver/decoder platforms. These filters position Sencore's products to support the efficiency savings in the upcoming DVB-S2+ standard. At the IBC Exhibition in Amsterdam, attendees can visit Hall 1, Stand F56 to see these tighter roll-off filters in action on Sencore's Satellite Modulator: SMD 989; and Receiver Decoders: MRD 5800, MRD 4400 and MRD 3187B. Featuring 15%, 10%, and 5% roll-off options, these advances significantly increase bandwidth utilization with negligible impact on signal acquisition and link margin.
In addition to the tighter roll-off support, new features such as built-in BISS scrambling and TR 101 290-based input redundancy and failover make Sencore's modulator products unmatched in feature set and value for video operators.
Sencore Quote:
"We are excited to deliver support for the latest modulation and demodulation technology" said Tony Oehlerking, General Manager, Sencore "These features demonstrate a continued effort to help operators improve bandwidth efficiency and reduce costs."

Receiver Decoders MRD 5800/4400/2600 - NEW
Sencore's advanced line of modular receivers and receiver decoders support today's highest quality video feeds, providing H.264 and MPEG-2 decoding up to 10-bit or 8-bit 4:2:2 and output formats up to and including 1080p60 and 3G SDI. With up to eight PIDs of audio decoding, the decoders are ideal for today's multichannel, multilingual environment.
The MRD 5800 is ideal for contribution environments, including large-venue OB productions, satellite trucks, and fixed-point contribution, as well as high-end distribution. Recently announced support for DVB-S2+ roll-off filters enables efficiency gains for satellite transmissions, so users can pay less and use more bandwidth for high-quality video.
For generic distribution applications, the MRD 4400 decodes 4:2:0 H.264 or MPEG-2 video from ASI, satellite, RF, and IP input options, and supports full use of SMPTE 2022 (CoP3) forward-error correction. The decoder is available in an SD-only model, which will be ready for a software upgrade to HD in the field when needed.
For RF Ingest & Digital Turnaround applications, the new MRD 2600 Receiver offers an affordable solution for receiving satellite and IP transmissions, and features automatic primary/backup switching between interfaces.
DVB-S/S2 Modulator SMD 989
The SMD 989 DVB-S/S2 modulator offers unprecedented efficiency, flexibility, and reliability for satellite digital video delivery. This year, support for the new DVB-S2+ roll-off filters provide efficiency gains and opex savings. In addition, the recent addition of EBU-standard BISS scrambling enables security interoperability with downlink sites around the world.
The modulator's intuitive user and remote interfaces ensure fast setup and effortless system integration, as well as quick field operation when time is most critical. Supporting ASI and IP inputs, the modulator also features TR 101 290 analysis and programmable failover capabilities for high-confidence integration into an always-on head-end environment.
The SMD 989 platform supports six-input VCM multistream without the need for an external aggregators, and offers advanced S2 modes such as 8PSK, 16APSK, and 32APSK that optimize transponder use and ensure the product is ready for the future of video delivery.
End-to-End Monitoring VideoBridge
On display at IBC 2013 will be Sencore's complete video system monitoring solution. The system includes a variety of probes that allow the solution to be tailored to each customer's unique application for complete confidence monitoring. Some notable highlights on display will be the VB330 10G IP probe, which is the perfect device to monitor thousands of multicasts or hundreds of OTT streams in today's large cable, IPTV and satellite broadcast chains. Also on display is the VB120 broadcast probe, which gives content providers the ability to measure IP media services continuously for reliable, around-the-clock digital TV monitoring. The VB252 and VB120 probe combination enables monitoring of IP network distribution (for up to 50 IP multicasts) together with DVB-T2 and, through new features in the VB120, T2-MI signals between broadcast studio and transmitter and SFN parameters. Also being showcased will be the VB262 monitoring probe, an input option that offers monitoring of QAM signals as found in cable networks. The VB272 monitoring probe is another input option offering monitoring and analysis of QPSK/8PSK on DVB-S and DVB-S2 satellite transponders.
Dense IP/ASI Transport Stream Gateway DMG 1200
The DMG 1200 family is a series of high-density transport stream gateways for IP and ASI applications. Featuring up to four gigabit Ethernet interfaces and sixteen ASI ports, the DMG 1200 is ideal for solving the interconnection problems operators face in today's evolving video delivery environment. The 1200 boasts features that easily connects legacy infrastructure, converts up to sixteen channels per RU of ASI to IP or IP to ASI, and contains dual redundant power and SNMP traps for maximum reliability.
