IBS Group Member Improves Quality and Accessibility of Russian State Statistics with Launch of Single Web Portal for Rosstat

IBS Group, a leading software development and IT services provider in Central and Eastern Europe, announces that IBS IT Services, a member of the IBS Group, has developed a web platform for Rosstat, Russia's state statistics agency, to bring together all Russian national statistical information in one place. The service, at http://www.gks.ru, is available in Russian and English, and makes it easy for users to access the wealth of information collected by Rosstat.

Rosstat is Russia's state statistics agency, aggregating data from units all across the country. Previously each of the agency's regional units had its own website, making the system unwieldy for end-users. The new portal replaces all of these with a single website. It offers several different levels of access and authorisation, and an advanced range of user services including for users with disabilities. Users also benefit from the availability of innovative data visualisation and infographics tools. Rosstat's central office oversees the structure and design and the portal to ensure all data is methodologically consistent.

IBS IT Services won a tender announced by Rosstat in late 2011 to develop a single state statistics portal. The system was built on the IBM WebSphere platform, and the portal launched in January 2013. The project makes storage, retrieval and processing of data more reliable, secure and efficient through centralised storage and unified access. It also helps Rosstat to reduce the costs of ownership of its web portals and software environment.
