Incheon Airport Closes the Concert for Successful PyeongChang Winter Olympics in Great Success

SEOUL, South Korea, Feb. 12, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- '2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics Celebration Concert', a large scale culture and art performance at Incheon International Airport that started on February 7 to support the successful host of PyeongChang Winter Olympics drew down a curtain in the grand finale as the 5-day concert came to an end in great success.

The concert was a regular performance of February that also celebrated the opening of Incheon Airport's Passenger Terminal 2 and Korea's top artists delivered passionate performances under the theme of 'Art, Unfolded in the Sky' for five days from February 7 to 11. The show was prepared as a platform to promote Korea's sophisticated culture and art to foreign athletes participating in PyeongChang Winter Olympics, the press and tourists so that they can enjoy the exciting and touching experiences of the Olympics in advance. It was the most successful regular concert of Incheon Airport in history with around 1,000~3,000 daily audience including foreign athletes and press members.

On the first day, February 7, the performance titled as 'Wave in Incheon City Chorale Concert' delivered heavenly harmony of Incheon City Chorale led by Kim Jong-hyeon, an art director regarded as the master of Korean music, with songs including 'Incheon Arirang', 'In the Flower Field', 'City of Future' and 'Ongheya' to receive a standing ovation from around 1,000 viewers.

The 'K-POP Wave Concert' on the second day featured Kim Yeon-woo, a talented vocal from Korea, who presented a touching live medley of his hit songs such as 'Love, That Easy Word', 'After Tonight' and 'That I Was Once by Your Side' with his unique and soft voice.

On the third day, the Trinity Philharmonic Orchestra led by Conductor Bang Seong-ho collaborated with musical actors such as Kim Da-hyeon, Bae Da-hae, Shin Young-sook and Youn Hyeong-ryeol in 'Musical Wave Concert' to present familiar emotional songs including 'Le Temps des Cathedrales', 'Golden Stars' and 'Nella Fantasia' along with glamorous musical gala show and it received an ovation from the audience.

The 'World Music Wave Concert' on the fourth day was joined by Kim Dong-kyu, a globally renowned Baritone, Ko Ah-ra, a jazz vocalist and DK Concert Ensemble, Korea's top session group to deliver world music with soft melodies such as 'My Way', 'Core'n grato' and 'Mas que nada'. The show was highly praised as the best performance.

On the last day, which was February 11, 'The Wave of Ballet Fantasy' by Wise Ballet Theater was presented. The splendid performance that combined the quintessence of classical ballet and creative ballet such as 'Swan Lake', 'Voice of Spring Waltz', 'Utopia' and 'La Vivandiere' received acclamation from the audience with the fantastic movements of graceful ballerinas that marked the grand finale of the concert.

The audience unanimously praised the concert as touching performances that brought the foreign Olympic athletes, press and visitors of Incheon Airport together and said that they made special memories at the airport with high-class art performances and unique art works installed in several different places of the airport.

The Incheon Airport, which hopes to become 'Art-Port' with the opening of Passenger Terminal 2 that has sophisticated art works of Korean and overseas artists installed here and there, plans to present four large-scale culture and art regular performances in 2018 in total including the recent concert and others in May, August and December. The airport will also offer around 4,000 regular performances, visiting performances and experience events every year.
