Incorporate Massage Sends Healing Hands to Houston for Hurricane Harvey Relief
The nation's leading on-site massage provider is lending some skilled hands to Hurricane Harvey relief efforts in Houston and needs help.
SALT LAKE CITY, Sept. 5, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Incorporate Massage is looking for help from the Houston community to coordinate their Hands Healing Houston program. They are offering free chair massage to support Hurricane Harvey relief volunteers and first responders, and to provide an income for local massage therapists who are now out of work.
When Hurricane Harvey made landfall on August 25th, Incorporate Massage Founder and CEO, Amelia Wilcox immediately reached out to the company's 23 Houston-based employees. Most were displaced from their homes and lacked money to buy the scarce food, housing, or gas needed to leave town.
After raising over $1500 internally and distributing to six Houston employees in need, Incorporate Massage then turned their focus to the first responders and rescue volunteers working round-the-clock without breaks. They decided to do what Incorporate Massage does best—the company organized free massage services to ease pain and stress.
"Providing relief is what we do," says Wilcox. "It's in our DNA. We saw that people needed help, so we decided to give free massages to people who needed it most, while helping the community get back on its feet."
So far, Incorporate Massage has served over 500 workers, from Houston PD to local church rescue centers. To make sure their free events are reaching those who need help most, Wilcox is asking for the Houston community's assistance.
"We're reaching out across social media so we know when and where to send our people," says Wilcox. "We're asking anyone on the ground there to reach out, so we can make a meaningful difference."
Incorporate Massage also contacted Houston businesses that remain open, offering discounted rates for corporate massage so the company can raise money to fund its free massage events and also pay their therapists and provide them work, so they can provide their families the housing and food they need.
Wilcox says, "We're not taking any profits. All the money we earn from discounted business services during Hurricane Harvey are going directly to our Houston employees who need the money. Everything else is going to fund our volunteer efforts to provide free massages."
