OKLAHOMA CITY, Oct. 1, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- First Americans Museum will host Oklahoma City's Indigenous Peoples Day celebration on Monday, Oct. 13, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The event is free and open to the public. Visitors may also purchase discounted $10 admission to the South Wing Galleries, and to the all-new FAMily Discovery Center.
Observed on the second Monday in October, Indigenous Peoples Day honors Native peoples, their histories, and their ongoing contributions to communities across the United States. Oklahoma is home to 39 Tribal Nations, making the celebration especially meaningful. First Americans Museum provides a place to experience these cultures in a living, contemporary way that blends tradition, learning, accessibility, and community connection.
This year's program offers a variety of experiences for all ages, abilities and interests:
- Quiet Hour (10–11 a.m.): Enjoy sensory-friendly events and activities designed for guests seeking a calmer experience. A dedicated space will also be available all day in our Sensory Sensitivity Zone for those who need a place to decompress and recenter
- Sport and tradition: Quapaw Indian Football demonstrations and cultural performances
- Art in action: Chalk mural contest hosted by Rock the Native Vote, an organization dedicated to civic engagement
- Support Native arts: Shop FAMstore and the First American artist market
- Civic recognition: Mayoral proclamation by Oklahoma City Mayor David Holt (Osage Nation) at 1 p.m.
- Learning opportunities: Lightning Talks in the Xchange Theater and advocacy tables in the Hall of The People featuring organizations across Indian Country
- Diverse flavors: Indigenous-inspired menu at 39 Restaurant and Café and food trucks

- Outside food and drink (other than water) are not permitted
- Pets, drones, weapons, coolers, and canopies are prohibited
- Strollers, mobility scooters, wheelchairs and service animals required due to disability are always welcome
