Industry Leader Phil Yates to Keynote 2015 Plastics Financial Summit
Plastics News to Honor CFO of the Year
DETROIT, March 4, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Phil Yates, senior advisor at Irving Place Capital and the former chief executive officer with Graham Packaging, will headline Plastics News' second annual Plastics Financial Summit, to be held June 2-3, 2015 at the Mid-America Club in downtown Chicago.
Yates was CEO for eight years with Graham Packaging, where he built company sales from $500 million to $2.5 billion and worked successfully with outside equity groups to obtain the financing necessary for growth. Yates' firm owns several plastics manufacturing companies, including Alpha Packaging and Mold-Rite. He will offer insight into Graham's journey and issues involved in the plastics financial community.
The conference is the only event in North America focused on the plastics financial community. It will feature speakers and panelists discussing the buying and selling of companies, expansion opportunities, and controlling costs from the critical vantage point of finance, equity and capital creation. Speakers include top plastics processors, equity firms, investment bankers and other experts discussing the drivers behind sustainable financial growth.
New to the conference in 2015 is a special recognition award from Plastics News honoring the CFO of the Year from a plastics manufacturing company. This award will be presented at the event, and the conference will include a special panel featuring finalists for the honor.
"Chief financial officers and other senior financial professionals are behind many of the most important news that we cover in the pages of Plastics News," said Plastics News Publisher Brennan Lafferty. "We decided to recognize these individuals for the contributions they have made to ensure the success of a plastics processing company in driving acquisitions, expansion and even the replacement of aging equipment. With this award, we will give these individuals a front-and-center position at an esteemed event."
Also scheduled to speak is Jack Knott, CEO of Arion Partners and former CEO of packaging giants Coveris and Exopack. Knott will discuss the alignment of companies from differing industry segments for financial growth and how to navigate financial waters to bring together companies in different geographic and end market segments. Coveris, the merger of four outside companies, is a successful example of this approach.
A keynote panel will explore the anatomy of a sale from different perspectives, including an investment banker, attorney, equity firm and top supplier. That panel will feature representatives from A. Schulman, Western Reserve Partners, Jones Day, and Graham Partners. Other panels feature executives with plastics processing companies and top chief financial officers.
Sessions include arranging credit financing from a bank perspective, supply chain issues and controlling costs, exit strategies, and case studies of acquisitions and expansions from processors. In addition, top CFOs nominated for CFO of the Year will be featured onstage discussing the details behind their success.
"The Plastics Financial Summit was a major success in its first year in 2014 and is continuing its growth track with new sessions and our CFO of the Year award," said Plastics News Conference Director Joseph Pryweller. "The climate for acquisitions and expansion is continuing to improve this year, and this conference will help provide both the learnings and the networking capabilities to add fuel to the expansion fire in 2015. For anyone in the financial community with a plastics company or serving that industry, this is an event not to be missed."
Networking with other financial professionals will also be a key component of this event. An evening reception will be held on June 2 at the Fairmont Hotel in Chicago. The conference, on June 3, will feature numerous networking breaks and both a breakfast and lunch.
