SEATTLE, Jan. 17, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Vulcan Capital, the Seattle-based investment management firm that oversees philanthropist Paul G. Allen's multi-billion dollar portfolio, today announced that Sean Meeker has joined it as an associate director. Mr. Meeker, who has more than a decade of industry experience, joins Vulcan as a credit specialist on the fixed income portfolio management team, and will assist with overall sector and risk allocation. Additionally, Mr. Meeker will, along with Director Ben Kolpa, advise Chief Investment Officer Paul Ghaffari on overall investment management strategy and tactical deployment of risk across publicly traded asset classes.
"Mr. Meeker is a great addition to our team," said Mr. Ghaffari. "He brings extensive experience across all fixed income instruments, particularly in bank loans and CDS, which will expand our opportunity set and help build on our performance track record. We are delighted to add his talent to the strength of our investment management team."
Mr. Meeker joins Vulcan Capital from Goldman Sachs Group, Inc., where he had worked since 2003, most recently serving as the head of loan and loan credit-default swap trading. Meeker, who will be based in Seattle, starts in late February and will report directly to Mr. Kolpa.
"Our team is committed to investing in big ideas and is not limited by traditional deal structures or holding periods, so we can invest in the right ideas for the right length of time," said Mr. Kolpa. "I look forward to Sean joining our dynamic group of investment professionals, and we'll rely on him to identify new ways to grow Vulcan Capital's fixed income and credit portfolios."
