Industry Veteran Dr. Glenn Steele Joins Millennium Health Advisory Board
Among nation's most influential physician executives, Dr. Steele is known for innovation, role in transformation of health care
SAN DIEGO, Feb. 10, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Millennium Health announced today that it has added Glenn D. Steele, Jr., MD, PhD, to its advisory board. Dr. Steele currently serves as the president and CEO of Geisinger Health System and chairman of xG Health Solutions. Steele was recently named among the nation's most influential physician executives by Modern Healthcare for the fourth consecutive year.

Dr. Steele joined Geisinger Health System as president and CEO in 2001. Since his arrival, the health system has experienced substantial growth, having gone from 7,500 employees in 2001 to almost 21,000 today, and gained recognition for its innovation and role in the transformation of health care. He came to Geisinger from the University of Chicago, where he served as Richard T. Crane Professor in the Department of Surgery, vice president for medical affairs, and dean of the Biological Sciences Division and the Pritzker School of Medicine. Prior to that, he was the William V. McDermott Professor of Surgery at Harvard Medical School, president and CEO of Deaconess Professional Practice Group and chairman of the Department of Surgery at New England Deaconess Hospital.
Widely recognized for his investigations into the treatment of primary and metastatic liver cancer and colorectal cancer surgery, Dr. Steele is past chairman of the American Board of Surgery. He serves on the editorial boards of numerous prominent medical journals. Most recently, he has concentrated his areas of study on innovation in health care delivery and financing. He has authored or co-authored nearly 500 scientific and professional articles. Steele has been named to Modern Healthcare's list of the 50 Most Influential Physician Executives five times, including the past four years, and to the list of the 100 Most Influential People in Healthcare for the past five years.
