Infinite is Awarded IBM I (AS/400) Migration Contract with Leading South American Oil and Gas Company
IRVINE, Calif., Jan. 7, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Infinite Software Corporation (OTCPink: IFSC) a global Software and Services Provider, has announced today that it has been awarded a contract to migrate AS/400 applications for one of the world's largest oil and gas companies.
Infinite Software Corporation has been awarded a contract to migrate RPG-based AS/400 applications to Linux and the Oracle database. The company has been operating a large data center of IBM I Series (AS/400) LPARS. These systems operate on a very proprietary database that does not allow the data to be easily accessed by other applications in use by the company or its partners and affiliates. Most of those other applications operate under the Oracle Database.
The Infinite toolset and services will migrate both the applications and data to Linux and Oracle, respectively. Since the data will be migrated to Oracle and new data produced from the system will be written to Oracle, the other applications currently running Oracle will have immediate and real time access to the information produced by ALL the applications in use by the client. By migrating the applications to Linux and Oracle, the client will realize dramatic cost-savings, ease of support going forward using open systems and much more functionality using the Oracle database in the future.
