Infiniti Sales Increase 29.9 Percent for February

FRANKLIN, Tenn., March 1, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Infiniti today reported U.S. sales of 9,144 units for the month of February, an increase of 29.9 percent versus 7,041 units a year earlier.

Highlights of Infiniti's sales performance for February include:

• The popular G Sedan performed especially well with sales of 4,044, an increase of 50.6 percent
• The Infiniti M line rose 44.2 percent
• The Infiniti FX performance crossover also contributed to the brand's growth, with a sales increase of 20.3 percent

"Later this month, the latest expression of that mission, the Infiniti M Hybrid, goes on sale, allowing luxury sedan buyers to never again have to make the compromise between performance and fuel efficiency."  

The Infiniti M Hybrid incorporates a 3.5-liter V6 engine with a 50-kW electric motor for a net horsepower rating of 360. Utilizing a conventional 7-speed automatic transmission, the brand's first hybrid model is rated at 32 miles per gallon on the highway. As part of Infiniti's corporate partnership with NCAA Men's Basketball, the advertising debut for the M Hybrid will begin during the NCAA "March Madness" tournament.

Infiniti today also debuted a new concept car, the Etherea, at the Geneva Motor Show. Powered by the same Direct Response Hybrid™ system found in the M Hybrid, the Infiniti Etherea is designed to be a new type of luxury vehicle for younger buyers, while previewing how a future compact performance luxury sedan from Infiniti might look.

In addition, at the Geneva Show, Infiniti announced a marketing agreement with Formula One World Champions, Red Bull RacingRenault, covering the 2011 and 2012 F1 seasons.
