InformationWeek Selects NewsGator Customers as Top 10 Social Business Leaders
Social Sites making social real for organizations in finance, consulting, healthcare
DENVER, June 11, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- NewsGator customer State Street Corporation topped an InformationWeek magazine list recognizing the ten companies in 2013 making the most strategic use of social technologies to engage workers and improve their operations. Three other NewsGator Social Sites customers also made the list, including Unisys, Mercer and Children's Hospital of Philadelphia.
The annual listing honors companies and executives that have moved beyond isolated uses to give social engagement a strategic role in their businesses. Information technology services provider Unisys and its Director of Knowledge and Collaboration Strategy and Governance, Gloria Burke, made the list for a second year in a row, coming in just behind State Street as it continues to drive and expand on the value its social enterprise efforts are already delivering.
Mercer, which offers clients advice and solutions in the areas of risk, strategy and human capital, and Harry Van Drunen, global chief information officer, transformed their intranet portal, called Mercer Link, using NewsGator and SharePoint 2010 in a highly successful effort to foster employee engagement and innovation.
Launched just five months ago, the new portal has seen rapid adoption with over 14,000 of the company's 20,000 worldwide employees now using Mercer Link to connect, collaborate, build communities, hold conversations, discover expertise, blog, innovate, and reward and recognize top contributors and performers.
"Social is not the future of work at Mercer, it's the reality now," said Van Drunen. "We have an amazing team and that, combined with the right technology partner and approach, went a long way to ensuring our vision of a highly collaborative and engaged workforce actually became a reality," he added.
Rounding out the list of NewsGator customers on the Top Social Business Leaders for 2013 list is Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and its interactive intranet producer, Kirsten Culbertson, who used Social Sites to transform a lackluster SharePoint implementation into an active and evolving collaborative environment.
All winners will be recognized at this year's Enterprise 2.0 conference taking place in Boston, Massachusetts from June 17 to June 19. Kristin Z. Waryas, vice president of enterprise social collaboration of State Street Corporation and, Gloria Burke of Unisys will participate in a Social Business Leaders session at the event on June 18th.
NewsGator will be at the Enterprise 2.0 show in Kiosk #41. Register now to meet with NewsGator and learn more about making social value real in your enterprise.
