Innotrac Employees & Clients Support Usher 2020 Foundation

ATLANTA, Nov. 6, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Innotrac employees and its clients, joined together to raise funds for the Usher 2020 Foundation.

The 2nd Annual SmartHub Silent Auction features products from several of Innotrac's retail clients.  Employees have an opportunity to bid on the products, with 100% of the proceeds going to Usher 2020.

"This foundation is doing such amazing work," said Mesale Solomon, Senior Vice President of Human Resources at Innotrac.  "Our employees look forward to the auction every year now.  We have such a great team of people who are truly committed to supporting the research and programs needed to help stop the loss of sight in those with Usher Syndrome."

In the past year, Usher 2020 has supported research including:

  • At Massachusetts Eye and Ear at Harvard Medical School, the development of an adeno associated virus (AAV) vector to deliver a healthy gene to the eye.
  • At Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center, pre-clinical testing of antisense oligonucleotides to block the mutation that prevents the development of the protein needed by the eye.
  • Through the Coalition for Usher Syndrome Research, sponsorship of the International Symposium on Usher Syndrome in July 2014, bringing together the professional and family community to advance research of Usher Syndrome.
  • Through the LSU Health Science Center, support of Usher Syndrome in Louisiana symposium in October 2014.
  • With the Foundation Fighting Blindness, support of the first-ever USH1C Pre-Clinical Studies Consortium to take place in November 2014, to accelerate research toward clinical trials.
