Commare is vice president of marketing at Inovonics where he oversees the company's marketing strategy and execution. He has more than 20 years of marketing and management experience. Prior to Inovonics, he served as director of new product and business development and product management at Watlow, a global manufacturer of industrial temperature controls, sensors and electric heaters. During his tenure there, he established priorities for research and development in support of enterprise strategy and developed product, technology and customer roadmaps using voice of the customer input. Commare has a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering Technology from Southern Illinois University, and also an MBA degree and a Master of Science degree in Marketing Communications from the Illinois Institute of Technology.

"Protecting Hospital Staff, Patients and Visitors with a Mobile Duress Alarm System"

According to the American Nurses Association, more than 50 percent of emergency center nurses were assaulted on the job in 2009. The threat of violence in the workplace is very real, and hospitals are finding it essential to take measures that will not only protect employees, but patients and visitors as well. A secure hospital workplace ensures safety and offers an element of relief in an already stressful environment. Enterprise mobile duress systems can be deployed to protect individuals from harm and are ideal for a hospital/campus-wide setting. However, decision makers often are bombarded with less than optimal solutions and features. This session sets baseline requirements for any mobile duress system so it can be relied upon during critical times of need. It highlights the importance of finding a system that pinpoints the duress location, provides coverage in every corner of a building/campus, and sends alarms to a variety of devices to ensure the fastest possible response if a threatening situation develops.
