Inspiration in Economic Crisis: Entrepreneurial Community Comes to Life
DALLAS, July 28 /PRNewswire/ -- During these challenging economic times Gabriella Draney, 32, from Dallas, Texas envisioned a place where innovating minds could be nourished and funded with seed capital for new business-to-business (b2b) technologies. Simultaneously, and unknown to Gabriella, established entrepreneur Jon Feld had the same idea. They were introduced through the entrepreneur network, had a three hour coffee, and the rest is history.
Together, they nurtured the idea for a b2b seed fund and tech accelerator for innovative web and software companies. Feld and Draney brought the concept to the larger business community and enlisted the support of angel investors, sponsors and most importantly, mentors. They were able to recruit two new partners in early 2010: John Reed and Brad Taylor, local entrepreneurs.
In less than a year, Tech Wildcatters emerged and selected five technology innovators from the multitudes that applied.
Also inspiring are Tech Wildcatters’ first five b2b startups:
College Job Connect recruiting portal for companies to acquire talent and help top undergraduate students access jobs.
Mobestream Media Keyring App, allows consumers to manage loyalty accounts via smart phones.
The Brand Protection Agency provides online tools to enforce branding, minimum advertised pricing and intellectual property.
Concepta Systems fillanypdf.com helps any company or person fill in a form saving time and money.
Image Vision Labs software that automatically monitors uploaded images for unacceptable content as defined by the business.
"Everyone in Tech Wildcatters is so busy working on trying to make their products that we sometimes forget about the economy," says Dennis Dayman, acclaimed web expert, antispam advocate, and Tech Wildcatters' mentor.
"Now the businesses in Tech Wildcatters' portfolio have paying customers or large companies piloting their innovation," says Draney.
"These companies have made a ton of progress because of Tech Wildcatters collaboration and attaching them to people who could help them with business customers, partners, mentors, investors, and service providers. We also hope to inspire others," says Feld.
