Since its founding in 2013, BLM protests and other activities have caused mayhem in several U.S. cities. Civil unrest in Ferguson, Missouri following the death of Michael Brown put the organization in the national spotlight for the first time. The National Guard was activated, and the FBI arrested two men for attempting to assemble a bomb. Flights into nearby Lambert-St. Louis International Airport were even briefly suspended at the height of the protests.

Fast-forward to April 2015, when Baltimore becomes the epicenter of BLM-sponsored violence. Protests revolving around the death of Freddie Gray resulted in 34 arrests and injuries to 15 police officers. The governor declared a state of emergency, calling in the National Guard and thousands of additional law enforcement personnel.

The most tragic events inspired by the BLM movement were the shooting sprees in Dallas and Baton Rouge, which together took the lives of eight police officers. Dallas sniper Micah Xavier Johnson's social media history revealed that he was a supporter of the New Black Panther Party, which has ideological ties to both BLM and FRSO. These organizations all see parallels between their struggles and those of Palestinians in Israel, which has fueled an undercurrent of anti-Semitism. Even the term "Arab Spring" has been appropriated as "Black Spring" in the movement's inner circle.

Many of BLM's core leadership are felons, and several have been arrested on outstanding warrants for serious crimes. Meanwhile, foreign governments and criminal cartels have seized upon the unrest created by BLM and related groups to further weaken U.S. influence in key regions around the world.
