Interactive Water Education Website for Kids Now Accessible Across Platforms and in Chinese
DiscoverWater.org, developed by the Project WET Foundation, can now be used on all operating systems and devices
BOZEMAN, Mont., Feb. 5, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- DiscoverWater.org, the world's leading water education website for children, can now be used on all operating systems and devices, thanks to a grant from Ecolab. Ecolab has also supported a complete Chinese translation at DiscoverWater.org/cn, making the site's interactive digital activities accessible to Mandarin speakers around the world. Both DiscoverWater.org and DiscoverWater.org/cn are available for use free of charge for children, parents, educators and anyone else interested in water.
"Knowing that educators and parents rely on many different devices to help young people learn, we are excited that learners on desktop computers, tablets and even mobile devices can use DiscoverWater.org," said Morgan Close, Vice President for Projects and Programs at the Project WET Foundation, which developed DiscoverWater.org. "Having a complete Chinese translation at DiscoverWater.org/cn gives the 1.2 billion people around the world who speak Mandarin the chance to learn and teach about water in a new way. We are grateful for Ecolab's support in reaching more people with digital, interactive water education."
The site's mascot, a water-loving guide dog named Bridger, invites users to "Explore Watersheds", "Discover Our Ocean", "Investigate Fresh Water" and "Use Water Wisely". Other units cover concepts such as the water cycle, healthy hydration, how soap and water interact to remove germs and how water is used in the production of everyday items. Short, animated videos introduce each topic. Resources for educators and parents, as well as assessment tools, are available.
Project WET and Ecolab have worked together since 2014 on the Clean and Conserve education program, which seeks to make the world a safer and healthier place through water conservation and hygiene education. To date, the program has reached nearly 7.5 million people worldwide.
