HUNTSVILLE, Ala., Aug. 28, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Intergraph® has won a contract with leading Australian energy company Santos for the use of SmartPlant® Enterprise for Owner Operators (SPO), along with other SmartPlant Enterprise solutions. Santos will use Intergraph technology to manage its existing facilities and those in its GLNG project in Queensland, Australia.
Santos GLNG will use world-leading technology to process coal seam gas into liquefied natural gas. The project is a partnership between Santos (operator), PETRONAS, Total and KOGAS. For this major project, Santos undertook a thorough technical evaluation of the available solutions on the market and selected Intergraph SmartPlant Enterprise because of its integrated project life-cycle approach, which is aligned with Santos's vision to support the growth of its business. Santos was also impressed by Intergraph's commitment with dedicated support throughout the implementation process and providing customization for Santos GLNG's specific project requirements.
SPO enables Santos to address interoperability issues, while enhancing plant safety and reliability, quality and productivity. In addition to SPO, Santos has implemented SmartPlant 3D, SmartPlant Foundation, SmartPlant Instrumentation, SmartPlant Electrical, SmartPlant P&ID and Leica Geosystems laser scanning solutions, and also used the Intergraph Data Conversion Center for converting P&ID drawings into intelligent data. Besides the GLNG project, Santos will also use these design and engineering solutions for the entire life cycle of its facilities for both greenfield and brownfield projects, with plans to extend these solutions to its existing facilities within the Asia-Pacific region.
Gerhard Sallinger, Intergraph Process, Power & Marine president, said, "Leading owner operators around the world use Intergraph solutions successfully. Santos, a major Australian owner operator, has chosen to adopt SmartPlant Enterprise for Owner Operators and the integrated suite of SmartPlant Enterprise solutions. This partnership validates Intergraph's global leadership in the oil and gas industry, and the growing number of owner operators adopting Intergraph technology worldwide."
Leading plant owners choose SPO to enable them to rapidly implement Intergraph's preconfigured business processes to support both CAPEX and OPEX phases of the plant life cycle. SPO is specifically designed for asset owners with an integrated suite of design and data management solutions to enhance plant safety, reliability and interoperability, while ensuring information integrity across the owner operator system landscape.
