International Insolvency Institute honours Hon. Burton R. Lifland

Who:	The International Insolvency Institute has awarded its highest distinction, the III's Outstanding Contributions Award, to Hon. Burton R. Lifland of the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York.
	"With this award, Judge Lifland joins other luminaries in the insolvency field whose lifetime of extraordinary service and achievement have been recognized by the III," noted Toronto lawyer, Bruce Leonard of Cassels Brock & Blackwell LLP, the Chair of the International Insolvency Institute.
What:	The International Insolvency Institute is a non-profit, limited membership organization dedicated to advancing and promoting insolvency as a respected discipline in the international field. Its primary objectives include improving international co-operation in the insolvency area and achieving greater international co-ordination in multinational business reorganizations and restructurings.
Where:	Judge Lifland will be honoured at the International Insolvency Institute's Legendary Conference Dinner on June 13, 2011 in New York City.

About Judge Burton R. Lifland
Burton R. Lifland is the former Chief Judge and is, currently the Senior Bankruptcy Judge for the Southern District of New York, and he is also former Chief Judge of the Bankruptcy Appellate Panel for the Second Circuit.

Judge Lifland is a Fellow of the American College of Bankruptcy, a contributing author to Chapter 11 Theory and Practice: A Guide to Reorganization, "Practical Prefile Considerations and Commencement of Case." He is a contributing editor of Norton Bankruptcy Law. Judge Lifland was a member of the U.S. delegation to the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law in the development of Chapter 15 of the Bankruptcy Code. He is a past member of the Judicial Conference Subcommittee on Bankruptcy Case management and is a current member of the American Bar Association's SABRE (Select Advisory Committee on Business Reorganization) as well as a Founding Member of the International Insolvency Institute.
