Internationally-Renowned Futurist Peter Schwartz To Deliver Keynote At 2014 Connected Car Expo On Nov. 18

LOS ANGELES, July 29, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Organizers of the Connected Car Expo^®, today announced that internationally-renowned futurist and business strategist, Peter Schwartz will deliver the keynote presentation of this year's conference on Nov. 18.  Considered an authority on future planning, Schwartz will share his insights on the ever-changing world of connected car technology and the projected effects of connectivity and autonomy across various global industries.

Organized by ANSA Productions, creators of the LA Auto Show, CCE is a three-day expo with a one-day conference that takes place at the Los Angeles Convention Center in conjunction with Los Angeles Auto Show Press & Trade Days, Nov. 18-20.  It showcases innovative companies within the connected car space and serves as an open forum for attendees to network with top media and key players shaping the future of the automotive industry.

Schwartz is a sought-after expert with a proven track record of helping corporations, governments and institutions navigate uncertain and changing conditions.  He co-authored the Pentagon's An Abrupt Climate Change Scenario and Its Implications for United States National Security and also headed scenario planning for the Royal Dutch/Shell Group of Companies in London.  While with Royal Dutch/Shell, his team conducted comprehensive analysis and worked with senior management to shift the multinational company's long-term business goals in response to changes in energy consumption and policy.

Schwartz also served as a script consultant on the blockbuster film The Minority Report (20th Century Fox/DreamWorks Pictures, 2002), where he worked alongside legendary director, Steven Spielberg, to construct a believable connected city with autonomous transportation and other futuristic depictions.  Since the release of this science fiction thriller, many of Schwartz's predictions shown in the movie have come to fruition.  Schwartz will reflect on lessons learned since The Minority Report, while sharing his latest forecasts at this year's Connected Car Expo.

Among his many accomplishments, Schwartz is the author of several celebrated books on business and society, including The Art of the Long View (Doubleday, 1991), which is considered a seminal publication on scenario planning; it was voted the all-time best book on the future by the Association of Professional Futurists and is used as a textbook by many business schools.  He is also the author of Inevitable Surprises (Gotham, 2003), a provocative look at the dynamic forces at play in the world today and their implications for business and society.  He is also the co-author of The Long Boom (Perseus, 1999), a vision for the world characterized by global openness, prosperity, and discovery; When Good Companies Do Bad Things (Wiley, 1999), an examination of, and argument for corporate social responsibility; and China's Futures (Jossey-Bass, 2001), which describes very different scenarios for China and their international implications. 

In his current position as Senior Vice President for Global Government Relations and Strategic Planning at Salesforce.com, Schwartz directs policy and politics throughout the world and manages the organization's ongoing strategic conversation.

Schwartz is a board member of the Center for a New American Security and Long Now Foundation, he is also a member of the Council on Foreign Relations, the World Affairs Council and the Research, Innovation and Enterprise Council (in Singapore).  Schwartz received a B.S. in Aeronautical Engineering and Astronautics from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, N.Y.
