Intoxalock Launches Sleep Mode for Ignition Interlock Users in Minnesota

DES MOINES, Iowa, Jan. 5, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Intoxalock, a Des Moines, Iowa company that provides innovative alcohol monitoring technology with its NHTSA approved ignition interlock devices (IIDs), announced the launch of "Sleep Mode" for their customers in Minnesota to assist with winter weather battery conservation. Intoxalock is the first company in the industry to announce a feature of this kind for their ignition interlock customers.
"At Intoxalock, we spent a considerable part of the 2015 focusing on the voice of our customers and trying to listen to their needs," said Kerry Keller, Director of Service Center Management at Intoxalock. "We continue to hear them talking about how hard winter weather can be on them, their vehicle and inevitably, their ignition interlock device. In reviewing our device, we found that it already had capabilities that could help customers with their battery issues, we just had to help the customer access these features."
By initiating sleep mode, Intoxalock customers can prevent their vehicle from continuing to power their ignition interlock device when they are away for long periods of time. By pressing and holding the activation button on the device front and listening for three consecutive beeps, the device can be entered into sleep mode within a matter of seconds. The Intoxalock device can be easily taken out of sleep mode with a single press of the activation button.
Intoxalock also added a new LED battery indicator messaging feature to provide customers with information on the current health of their car battery. Directions on how to use these new features and other cold weather tips are being provided to Minnesota Intoxalock customers via e-mail communications and Intoxalock.com. Keller also mentions that Intoxalock plans to expand the knowledge of this feature to other cold weather states in 2016.
To use the Intoxalock ignition interlock device, a driver simply pushes a button, submits their breath sample and waits for the LED screen to display passed or failed. If the driver passes, their vehicle will start normally. If a driver doesn't pass, they will be unable to start the car until a passing breath sample is provided. Intoxalock devices are primarily used by people legally required to install an ignition interlock device (IID) because of a drunk-driving violation. An increasing number of individuals and businesses are starting to voluntarily install car breathalyzer devices as a prevention method.
