PITTSBURGH, May 19, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- "As an occupational therapist, I have a passion for treating older adults, and people with injuries and disabilities in their own homes. I saw a tremendous need for reducing the hassle and strain of retrieving and replacing items in the fridge. In addition, many folks have no way to access much of the space in the fridge and certainly no way to clean out the refrigerator without asking for assistance. Together with my physical therapist partner, we came up with the idea for the Ergo Fridge system and realized it would put items in the fridge in the perfect spot/height to provide healthy ergonomics for anyone to access," said one of two inventors, from Pocatello, Idaho.
The invention provides an improved way to access each shelf within a refrigerator and the back of the refrigerator. In doing so, it reduces hassle and strain when retrieving or replacing an item from the refrigerator. It also ensures each shelf is in the optimal position for cleaning. As a result, it increases healthy ergonomics, safety, visibility, comfort and convenience. It also allows for aging in place. The invention features a universal and innovative design that is easy to use so it is ideal for both able-bodied individuals and those with physical challenges.
The original design was submitted to the National sales office of InventHelp. It is currently available for licensing or sale to manufacturers or marketers.
