NEW YORK, Aug. 27, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- IQSTEL Inc. (NASDAQ: IQST) ("IQSTEL" or the "Company"), a multinational technology company providing telecommunications, fintech, AI-powered communications, cybersecurity, content, and digital infrastructure services, today announced that its subsidiary IQSTEL Digital (www.iqsteldigital.com) has entered into a strategic distribution partnership with IDILIO TV (www.idilio.tv/en), a Colombian mobile entertainment platform specializing in short-form vertical microdramas.
The partnership pairs IDILIO TV's content library, audience traction, and mobile technology with IQSTEL's telecommunications infrastructure and mobile-operator relationships, with the objective of building a recurring-revenue digital entertainment business serving Spanish-speaking audiences worldwide.
Why This Partnership, and Why Now
Short-form vertical drama — commonly called "microdrama" — is among the fastest-growing categories in digital entertainment. The format originated in China and, according to industry reporting, generated approximately $11 billion in global revenue in 2024, growing roughly 35% that year following a 268% increase in 2023. Chinese-language platforms are reported to account for roughly 83% of that revenue, leaving Spanish-language content — addressing more than 630 million speakers worldwide — comparatively underserved. (according to industry reports)
IDILIO TV was built to serve that gap with original Latin American content rather than dubbed imports. IQSTEL brings the distribution layer: commercial relationships with more than 600 telecom operators across 21 countries, and the billing and integration infrastructure required to place a consumer digital service inside a mobile operator's subscriber offering.
"IDILIO TV brings a proven product, compelling content, technology, and audience engagement. IQSTEL brings the operator relationships and distribution infrastructure needed to scale it. That combination can transform a successful digital product into a global recurring revenue business." said Leandro Iglesias, President and CEO of IQSTEL.
How the Distribution Model Works
IQSTEL Digital intends to distribute IDILIO TV through participating mobile operators using several complementary monetization paths:
- Direct-carrier billing, under which a subscriber's charges appear on an existing mobile bill, removing the payment-card friction that limits digital subscription adoption in many Latin American and emerging markets.
- Standalone and bundled subscriptions, in which operators package the service with existing data or entertainment plans as a differentiator.
Unlike a one-time content licensing transaction, this model is designed to generate revenue monthly for as long as subscribers remain active. Each new mobile-operator agreement can provide access to an additional subscriber base; as distribution expands, subscriber growth can support additional content, marketing, and geographic expansion.
IQSTEL's commercial telecommunications relationships extend across an ecosystem of operators whose combined networks serve an estimated 2.3 billion end users. This figure describes the aggregate reach of IQSTEL's operator relationships and is not a projection of potential subscribers for this service.
"Every new operator opens a door to another potential subscriber base, and every retained subscriber can contribute recurring revenue," Iglesias said. "Rather than building a global distribution network from the ground up, we intend to activate the relationships and infrastructure already present across IQSTEL's platform."
An Operating Platform with Institutional Backing
IDILIO TV launched its iOS and Android applications in late 2025 and has scaled rapidly. According to IDILIO TV, the platform has achieved:
- More than 2 million downloads
- Distribution across more than 120 countries and more than 400,000 social-media followers.
- A catalog of 49+ original series and 2,450+ short-form episodes, in Spanish, English, and Portuguese.
- Production of approximately two to four new series per month.
In June 2026, IDILIO TV announced the close of a $5 million seed financing led by a16z Speedrun, the Andreessen Horowitz accelerator focused on media and entertainment, with participation from Goodwater Capital, WndrCo — the investment firm co-founded by media executive Jeffrey Katzenberg — and David Vélez, founder of Nubank, investing individually.
Episodes generally run between one and three minutes and span romance, thriller, suspense, mystery, crime, and revenge — genres suited to mobile viewing and serialized engagement. The company produces content using a data-driven development process, testing series concepts with audiences before committing to full production.
"Microdramas are changing how audiences discover entertainment," said Jorge Becerra, CEO of IQSTEL Digital. "The format is mobile-native, highly engaging, and ideally suited for telecommunications distribution. IDILIO TV already has the content and audience. IQSTEL can provide the commercial channels needed to pursue much greater scale."
Leadership and Creative Origin
IDILIO TV was co-founded by Chief Executive Officer Gabriela Tafur, a Stanford-educated attorney, and Chief Technology Officer Esteban Ramírez, who holds an MBA and a master's degree in computer science from MIT.
The platform draws on Colombia's long track record in producing and exporting dramas and telenovelas. With creative influences from Colombia, Miami, and Mexico, its stories combine Latin American cultural specificity with themes that travel — love, ambition, betrayal, revenge, and redemption. Latin American and Colombian communities are well established across the United States, Europe, and Asia, and their cultural and linguistic ties create a natural international audience for authentic Spanish-language entertainment.
"Colombia has already proven that its stories can travel," Becerra said. "IDILIO TV brings that creative legacy into a mobile-first, globally scalable format."
"Our stories are rooted in Latin America, but the emotions are universal," said Gabriela Tafur, CEO and Co-Founder of IDILIO TV. "IQSTEL Digital provides the telecommunications relationships and infrastructure needed to reach Spanish-speaking audiences wherever they live. Together, we have a real opportunity to build a scalable and sustainable global entertainment business."
Creating Value Across the Ecosystem
- Mobile operators gain a differentiated digital service designed to support subscriber acquisition, engagement, and retention, and a new billing-based revenue share.
- Subscribers gain convenient access to culturally relevant, mobile-first entertainment, payable through an existing mobile account.
- IDILIO TV gains international distribution and new subscriber-acquisition channels without building operator relationships market by market.
- IQSTEL gains the opportunity to build a scalable recurring revenue stream with potential EBITDA contribution, consistent with its strategy of monetizing higher-margin digital services across its existing carrier network.
Financial Context and Outlook
IQSTEL reported preliminary net revenue of approximately $207 million for the first six months of 2026, compared to approximately $130 million in the same period of 2025. The Company has stated a fiscal year 2026 revenue target of $430 million and has described a strategic focus on expanding EBITDA through higher-margin digital services.
"For years we invested in building a global telecommunications platform — 21 countries, more than 600 operator relationships, and the billing and integration infrastructure that connects them," said Leandro Iglesias, President and CEO of IQSTEL. "This partnership is exactly how we intend to monetize that network. We are not building new distribution here; we are placing a digital service into channels that already exist and already carry traffic every day. If we execute, that is what turns infrastructure we have already built into recurring, higher-margin.."
Subject to operator agreements, technical integrations, pricing, subscriber adoption, and market execution, IQSTEL believes the partnership represents a meaningful recurring revenue opportunity with the potential to contribute to EBITDA growth over time. No mobile-operator distribution agreements have been executed in connection with this partnership as of the date of this release, and there can be no assurance that any such agreement will be entered into or that the partnership will generate revenue.
