DANIA, Fla., Jan. 22, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Issa Asad, CEO of Q Link Wireless, LLC, has written and released an eight-part series of news articles published on CBS Miami News to clarify information about the Lifeline program. Asad, a Dania-based entrepreneur, is regarded as an expert on the Lifeline program and is CEO of Q Link Wireless, LLC, an approved provider of the Federal Lifeline Assistance Program.
Lifeline is a government benefit program that provides discounted or free cell phone service to low-income individuals in need. Cellular service providers like Q Link Wireless provide the cell phone service to qualified and approved Lifeline subscribers.
"I am learning that there is a great deal of misinformation circulating about the Lifeline program, and I am eager to help industry insiders as well as consumers better understand it," said Asad. "While a large number of people are moderately aware the program exists, few people that I talk to really understand the history of the program, what it offers and how it benefits low-income individuals."
In the first article, "The Role of USAC: Managing the Lifeline Program," the QLink Wireless CEO explains how the program is currently administered by the Universal Service Administration Company (USAC), which also manages programs such as the Connect America Fund and the Schools and Libraries E-Rate Program.
Although the Lifeline program may be viewed as a Democratic program created under the Obama Administration, Asad proves this myth as false in "The Lifeline Program through the Years: From Origins to the Present". The Lifeline Program was actually instituted by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) under the Reagan Administration in 1984, and updated in 2005 under the Bush Administration.
"For families who are struggling, Lifeline has lived up to its name by providing families in need with valuable benefits," said Asad. "Being able to wirelessly call friends, family, work, health care, 911 emergency services and more is absolutely essential."
