ISTE's 2011 Conference and Exposition Focuses on Unlocking Potential
WASHINGTON, Jan. 27, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- The International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) announces dates, location and theme for its 32nd annual conference and exposition. ISTE 2011, "Unlocking Potential," will be held June 26 through 29, 2011, at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia.
Presented by ISTE in cooperation with the Pennsylvania Association for Educational Communications & Technology (PAECT), the annual conference and exposition is the world's most comprehensive education technology event. Last year's conference in Denver, Colo., attracted roughly 18,000 participants and 456 exhibiting companies. This year, ISTE expects nearly 20,000 educators, tech coordinators, teacher educators, administrators, and industry and government representatives from all over the world to attend.
"We're pleased to return to this inspiring and innovative city for our 2011 conference," said Leslie Conery, ISTE deputy CEO and conference chair. "Philadelphia is recognized for its historical firsts and great minds, and offers a wonderful backdrop for the engaged, thought-leading educators who converge at ISTE's annual conference and exposition."
"With a theme of "Unlocking Potential" our objective is to create a conference experience that advances the role of education and the skill of educators in unlocking the creative and intellectual potential of all learners," said Conery. "We believe technology has a powerful and valuable role to play in achieving this goal."
General registration is open now. Prospective attendees, especially those traveling to Philadelphia from other regions, should register soon because housing resources tend to fill up quickly. Housing, registration, and travel information are available on the ISTE 2011 website.
International inquiries should be directed to (541) 346-3537 or to e-mail, [email protected].
The full conference schedule will be posted in mid-February. Media registration opens in early April. Keynotes and program highlights will be announced as well in the coming months. ISTE 2011 will include nearly 300 formal sessions, and another 400 informal sessions. Learn more at www.isteconference.org/2011.
