SAN FRANCISCO, April 10, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Okera, the leading active data management company for data lake security and governance, today announced Itay Neeman has joined the company as Okera's new Vice President of Engineering. Previously Neeman served as Senior Director of Engineering at Splunk. At Okera, Neeman will focus on expanding the talent pool of Okera's award-winning engineering team in addition to driving new governance and security innovation for the company's data lake management platform.
"We're excited to welcome Itay to our team," said Amandeep Khurana, Okera CEO and Co-Founder. "We have known Itay for a long time and have admired the leadership he brought to Splunk's engineering organization. We're delighted to work formally with someone we've had longstanding respect for to help Okera advance the state-of-the-art in data lake security and governance."
Neeman brings a wealth of experience growing and leading high-quality engineering teams. At Splunk, Neeman played a critical role in helping to expand the company's engineering team to over 500 engineers across multiple locations. He was also a founding engineer and site leader for Splunk's Seattle office. In addition, Neeman also spearheaded multiple initiatives including Splunk Enterprise and product offerings for Splunk's cloud business. Prior to Splunk, Neeman served as a design engineer at Microsoft developing a next-generation operating system.
"Managing both security and access of petabytes of data is an exceptionally complicated problem to solve," said Neeman. "With an emphasis on fine-grained access control and a data-centric approach, Okera's data management platform uniquely relieves the pressure so organizations can ensure data is secure without sacrificing access and innovation. I'm very excited to join the team and be a part of the platform's development as Okera continues to rapidly expand and scale."
Okera is the first software provider to enable the management of data access and governance at scale for today's modern data lakes. Built on the belief that companies can do more with their data, Okera's Active Data Access Platform (ODAP) allows agility and governance to co-exist and gives data consumers, owners and stewards the confidence to unlock the power of their data for innovation and growth. Okera can be deployed in as little as one day to facilitate the provisioning, accessing, governing and auditing of data in today's multi-cloud, multi-data format, and multi-tool world.
