"It's not you, it's us." Little Rock takes a different approach to Amazon's HQ2 RFP
LITTLE ROCK, Ark., Oct. 19, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- While cities across the nation are in a bidding war to have online retail giant Amazon call their city home of HQ2, the city of Little Rock took a novel approach to saying, "thanks, but no thanks" to the RFP.
A full-page "love" letter from Little Rock to Amazon appeared in today's Washington Post, owned by Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos, and an aerial banner flew over Seattle and the company's HQ1 today reading, "Hey Amazon, it's not you, it's us."
Because Little Rock does not meet Amazon's behemoth criteria, community leaders took this opportunity to create "Love, Little Rock," an economic development campaign intended to both attract new business and encourage residents to become "Love, Little Rock" ambassadors by sharing their pride using the #LoveLittleRock hashtag. Spearheaded by the Little Rock Regional Chamber, the campaign highlights all the things that make Little Rock one of America's most attractive cities.
"We wanted to start the campaign with a bang and grab the attention of national business leaders across the country, because we know that once you experience Little Rock, you'll love us," said Jay Chesshir, President and CEO of the Little Rock Regional Chamber.
