SAN MATEO, Calif., Dec. 4, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Today, IXL Learning announced its fourth annual list of Elite 100 teachers. "At IXL, we are privileged to create products that enhance teachers' effectiveness and impact," said Paul Mishkin, CEO of IXL Learning. "It's rewarding to see the ever-growing number of teachers worldwide who are making IXL an essential component of their classrooms, and we are proud to celebrate their achievements through the Elite 100."
IXL selected the list of 100 from among the 300,000 teachers worldwide who use the program in their classrooms, based on usage. The Elite 100 hail from 26 U.S. states and countries including Australia, Canada, Lesotho, Mexico, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Trinidad and Tobago, among others.
"I encourage my students to continually challenge themselves to accomplish small goals on a regular basis, often within small sections of the curriculum," said Bryce Wait, an Elite 100 teacher at Athelstone School in Athelstone, Australia. "As a teacher, I love that all students are able to get a daily sense of achievement regardless of their prior knowledge and understanding. IXL has so many amazing features that I use to gain maximum participation and engagement at appropriate levels of challenge."
Elite 100 teachers have implemented IXL in many ways, from holding competitions to see who can achieve the highest SmartScore, to having students offer peer support when IXL's real-time reports indicate a fellow student needs help, to using IXL to differentiate instruction for advanced students and more. Teachers also utilize IXL's performance and progress insights to help students reach their full potential. The IXL Continuous Diagnostic provides insights that are always up to date, so teachers can outline actionable next steps for each individual student. With IXL Analytics, features like the Real-Time Center allow teachers to assess student performance so they can intervene precisely when help is needed.
"Once IXL was incorporated into my 'bag of tricks,' there was a definite change in the rate of growth for every student in my class," said Karla Rupp, an Elite 100 teacher at Freeman Academy in Freeman, South Dakota. "On assessments, a large majority of students would surpass the average rate of learning for their grade level. I definitely couldn't grow my students' brains as effectively without IXL!"
IXL covers math, English language arts, science, social studies and Spanish, and is aligned to the Common Core and all state standards. IXL is available online and as an app for iPad and Android. For more information and to subscribe to IXL, please visit www.ixl.com.
