Ixonos helps Firstbeat Technologies to develop a new, highly improved version of their Bodyguard R-R interval recording device for short- and long-term heart beat monitoring in lifestyle assessments. Thanks to several innovations, such as automatic start up and comfortable design provided by Ixonos, the new device has a significantly improved user experience.

One of the inventions that Ixonos provided for the new device is the automatic start-up. As the device starts automatically when it is attached to the skin, there is no risk for losing measurement data because of oblivion. Ixonos also optimized the file management system to improve the data transfer via USB by 400%. Consumers can now transfer their data in a snap to their computer for analysis. "When Firstbeat's unique software algorithm was transferred to the embedded world, together with the customer, Ixonos was able to make it run one hundred times faster. This is vital for low power consumption and long operating time in a small device," explains Ismo Pellikka, HW Project Manager, Ixonos.
