"Jack's thought leadership has spanned many decades. He has made such a huge impact on the industry from his research, ideas, and what he practices in the field," said Brett Beal, President of the Utah ASTD Chapter. "He is a local champion and has always been very generous with his service to our ASTD Chapter by speaking at events and helping individual members."

Dr. Jack Zenger is honored to be selected as the inaugural award recipient and said, "My lifelong interest in leadership development began with my childhood observations about how new leaders influenced the functions of the hospital where my father worked as an administrator."

Since then his career has combined entrepreneurial, corporate and academic activities. He has founded three training development firms including Zenger-Miller, named The Wall St. Journal top 10 supplier of executive development, and is currently the CEO of Zenger Folkman.  He served as VP of Human Resources for Syntex Corporation, and was a Group VP of the Times Mirror Corporation. Jack is a bestselling author who also shares his research as a contributor to Forbes and Harvard Business Review. His cutting-edge ideas and research have been broadcast and published in The Wall Street Journal, Business Week, CBS News, Fox News, NPR and CLO.

The Utah ASTD award plaque is red sandstone to represent the southern Utah landscape. On the back is an ancient hieroglyphic that stands for leadership.

Concluded Brett Beal: "We enjoy honoring our local talent, and in the future we hope to expand this award to the national level to acknowledge leaders on the cutting edge of research.
