BEIJING, Sept. 29, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- A Memorandum of Understanding has been signed in the 751D - PARK Art District, host of this year's Beijing Design Week, between Jacob Jensen Design, the internationally acclaimed Danish design firm, and China Zhonghua Geotechnical Engineering Group Co., Ltd. (CGE). Both companies have concluded their shared intentions to reach a cooperation in the months to come within the fields of urban space design and planning, industrial design, art and education. Both parties seek to strengthen China's design innovation and creative urban planning sectors while cultivating the nation's talent. The ceremony was witnessed by His Royal Highness, Crown Prince Frederick of Denmark, Mr. Liang Fuhua, CEO of CGE Group, Mr. Timothy Jacob Jensen, CEO and Chief Designer of Jacob Jensen Design, and Mr. Zhan Qing, District Mayor of the People's Government of Qingyang District in Chengdu.
"Our vision is to improve people's lives through design," says CEO Timothy Jacob Jensen. This is a deeply rooted value to which the design firm has stuck to throughout its history. By merging the international and MAYA design styles, Jacob Jensen Design helped create a unique and ultramodern design language that has been winning over consumers for over half a century. The relevance of the classic Danish agency and it's presence in the country since 2011 matches CGE's plans to expand its design and planning capabilities internationally.
During the signing ceremony, Liang Fuhua, CEO of CGE, said: "CGE has long been a pioneer and trend setter in China's urban design and regional development. A strategic cooperation with Jacob Jensen Design will bring the successful experience and expertise of both parties together. We are aiming to build a world-leading provider of creative services in public space, industrial and visual design."
Jacob Jensen Design was first established in Denmark in 1958. With its recognizable minimalistic design and long lasting global appeal, Jacob Jensen Design has grown to be Scandinavia's most award-winning design consultancy. Its founder, Jacob Jensen, was the first person in Danish history to be formally educated in industrial design. He is considered one of the great "golden age designers" and a driver of "Danish Modernism". Perhaps the most recognizable feat of Jacob Jensen Design is the successful collaboration with Bang & Olufsen. For a period of 27 years, the firm designed and brought to market more than 240 products for Bang & Olufsen, creating a design language that supported their transformation into an iconic global brand. Today, Jacob Jensen Design is led by the founder's son, Timothy Jacob Jensen who, like his father, has garnered a long list of accomplishments through the years, serving as chief designer for the high-end German home appliance brand, Gaggenau between 1991 and 1998, and establishing its own line of branded products under the Jacob Jensen trademark, to name a few.
During the ceremony's opening remarks, Jensen stated: "We are honored and excited to join hands with CGE in China during 2019. We have achieved significant international success and we hope to share our experience with designers around the world. In recent years, the Chinese government has proposed to speed up its transformation into an innovation-driven country. The designation of "Created in China" and "Designed in China" rises in response to this strategy. As such, we expect that our relationship with CGE could integrate their technical resources with our know-how in order to raise China's design standards, develop better designs locally, and thus upgrade China's urban life experience."
During the same event a tripartite framework agreement was signed between the Qingyang District Government of Chengdu, CGE and JJD. In the near future, the three parties intend to combine their resources to build a China Design Center in Chengdu.
