James Green, Former CEO of Magnetic, Named Chief Revenue Officer of Newsweek

NEW YORK, March 8, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Newsweek's CEO Dev Pragad today announced that James Green has been named Chief Revenue Officer. As CRO, Green will influence future of new verticals and events for the magazine. Additionally, he'll oversee new sales packages and partner strategy helping grow Newsweek and its properties.

Prior to joining Newsweek, Green served as CEO of search retargeting leader Magnetic where he grew the company from $1 to $100 million in revenue. Before that he was CEO of four other VC-funded businesses: Giant Realm, PVI, Giant Bear, and Sabela Media. The latter was sold to 24/7 Media and later to DoubleClick. Previously, Green worked for at Pixar Animation Studios running marketing and new business development. Earlier in his career, he held several roles at The Walt Disney Company, including General Manager of the Japanese Market.

In tandem, sales leader Shaun Hekking has been appointed to the ad sales team as Vice President. In this role, Hekking will help manage and grow existing accounts across multiple verticals including spirits, automotive, pharma, travel and leisure, CPG, and more. He will also work closely with the editorial and production teams to develop and execute strategic initiatives.

Hekking comes to Newsweek from Acuity, where he served as Senior Director of Advertising Sales and Programmatic Partnerships. Before Acuity, Shaun held senior sales management roles at Reuters, Pandora and NBC Local Media.

Green currently sits on multiple boards and advises promising startups; he also volunteers his time as Executive Director of The Squash Center, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, whose mission is to make squash more accessible to the general public. He graduated from McGill University where he occasionally guest lectures and holds an MBA from the Anderson School at UCLA.

In his spare time, Hekking works closely with The TD Foundation, which provides aid to children of wounded warriors and fallen heroes, while helping American Veterans' families in crisis. He also works with The Art Therapy Project, a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping trauma survivors through the creative process. He holds a bachelor's degree in English from the University of New Hampshire and currently resides in New York City.
