Jeff Treichel named Interim Executive Director of Continuing and Innovative Education at The University of Texas at Austin

AUSTIN, Texas, March 6, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Jeff D. Treichel assumed the role of Executive Director, ad interim, for the Division of Continuing and Innovative Education (CIE) at The University of Texas at Austin. In this position, Treichel provides leadership to all CIE units and departments, in addition to his ongoing role as CIE's chief business officer and compliance officer overseeing all financial and human resource operations. He succeeds the late Linda L. Glessner who passed away in January 2013 after a short illness. Treichel's appointment comes from Steven Leslie, the university's executive vice president and provost.

CIE comprises the K-16 Education Center, Petroleum Extension Service, Professional Development Center, Thompson Conference Center, University Extension and University of Texas-University Charter School.

Treichel came to CIE in 2008 after serving two years as director of finance and resource planning with the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB). In that role, he was responsible for the direction and analysis of state appropriations, budgets and institutional annual reports on higher education financing and facilities.

Prior to working for THECB, Treichel worked at The University of Texas at Austin for 18 years in a variety of management and finance positions. The colleges and departments he has worked for include the Office of Internal Audits; the College of Fine Arts; the Office of the Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer; the Office of the Vice President for Employee and Campus Services; and the College of Education.

In addition to earning his Bachelor of Business Administration degree from The University of Texas at Austin, Treichel is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in the state of Texas. He is also a member of the University Professional and Continuing Education Association (UPCEA), the Texas Association of School Business Officials (TASBO) and the National Association of College and University Business Officers (NACUBO).
