Local musician Sean O'Donnell and wife Erin bring JETSET's music-driven Pilates concept to
the San Diego community
SAN DIEGO, Oct. 1, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- JETSET Pilates, the fast-growing modern Reformer Pilates franchise offering premium, full-body workouts, is expanding in San Diego with a new studio opening in the Liberty Station neighborhood. Located at 2850 Womble Rd., Suite 102C, the studio is owned and operated by Sean O'Donnell and his wife Erin O'Donnell. Preview classes are set to begin on October 5, with a grand opening celebration planned for October 16.
Sean and Erin met and married in San Diego, building a life together across two very different careers: Sean spent years as a touring musician, while Erin built a career in accounting. Early in their marriage, the couple made a deliberate decision to prioritize Erin's career, with Sean stepping back from full-time music to become a stay-at-home dad as the family moved first near Manhattan and later to Silicon Valley for the better part of a decade. With their three children now older, Sean and Erin have returned home to San Diego to open their first business together.
Before turning his focus to family, Sean spent more than a decade in the San Diego and national music scene, playing in bands including Dogwood and Reeve Oliver, a San Diego mainstay that earned two San Diego Music Awards, before joining Yellowcard, one of the most recognized names to emerge from the early-2000s pop-punk scene, as his final band before stepping away from touring in 2012. He also released a solo album while raising his young family.
"After years of touring, staying healthy meant being intentional about how I ate, how I trained, and how I made time for it," said Sean O'Donnell. "Pilates gave me a way to bring that same discipline into a completely different chapter of life as a dad of three who doesn't have a lot of free time. Fifty minutes, and I'm in, out, and ready for the rest of my day. Bringing that to Liberty Station with Erin, in the city where we met, feels like everything has come full circle."
It was Erin, an avid Pilates client herself, who first introduced Sean to the practice, and in turn, to JETSET. Drawn to the brand's musically-driven approach to reformer Pilates, the couple saw it as a natural way to bring together her passion for the workout and his lifelong connection to music, a combination that ultimately led them to open a studio of their own.
"Sean spent years supporting my career and moving our family across the country so I could grow professionally, and now it's my turn to support him in building this studio," said Erin O'Donnell. "JETSET really is the two of us in one place: my love of Pilates and his love of music. We can't wait to build a community in Liberty Station that's as inclusive and high-energy as we are."
The 2,859-square-foot studio, one of the largest in the JETSET Pilates network, will feature JETSET's signature 50-minute classes combining strength, cardio, and Pilates-inspired movement set to DJ-curated music. The studio will also include a private, one-on-one reformer studio, a rare offering within the JETSET network for clients seeking a slower introduction to reformer Pilates, working around an injury, or wanting dedicated individual instruction. The studio is expected to create between 22 and 25 new jobs, with an instructing team built to reflect the full range of San Diego, including a notably strong roster of male instructors, still a rarity in the Pilates space.
"Sean and Erin bring a rare combination of creative energy and genuine commitment to community to JETSET Pilates," said Bertus Albertse, CEO of JETSET Pilates. "Sean's background as a touring musician speaks directly to the musically-driven experience at the center of our brand, and together, he and Erin are exactly the kind of franchise partners we want representing JETSET as we grow in San Diego."
Grand opening details are still being finalized, but Sean and Erin, well known among friends for hosting memorable gatherings, promise a celebration with music at its core. The Liberty Station studio marks the first of three JETSET Pilates locations the couple plans to open across the San Diego area.
