Jewel Hut Favourite Pandora Celebrates 30th Birthday

Popular Jewel Hut brand Pandora is turning 30 this year, and has compiled a history of its own 'unforgettable moments' to celebrate.

In honour of its landmark year, Pandora has documented key points in its history in a short video featured on the brand's website, documenting the journey from humble beginnings to reigning as one of the world's 'top three' jewellery brands, selling in over 65 countries on six continents.

Although it shows no signs of halting in its 'mission to inspire women around the world', it is Pandora's past successes rather than its future ones that are showcased as it celebrates its journey from being a small jewellery shop in Copenhagen, Denmark in 1982 to becoming a world-famous brand.

The company's quest for high quality, affordable jewellery took it to Thailand in 1984, when they opened a production facility, and the first customisable charm bracelet was introduced in 2000, marking the birth of a jewellery phenomenon. A patented threading system meant that 'keepers' allowed for the stunning charms to be placed and re-arranged easily, the perfect way for jewellery fans to collect and keep favourite designs.

The first ever Pandora charms went on sale in Denmark in February 2000, selling out in most stockists within two months. A sweet strawberry design was one of 15 charms initially available, ten of which are still popular today. Pandora's 'Angel of Hope'  is now the world's most widely worn Pandora charm, with almost 2.5 million bought in gold and sterling silver.

Pandora's elegant marketing campaigns and social media approaches were also a significant tool to 'help a world of women fall in love'. Sumptuous print advertisements show the beautiful jewellery glistening in all its glory, and featured in the first televised campaign which appeared in 2008.

Following the first Facebook post in 2009 to December 2011, Pandora amassed 1,000,000 likes from its adoring fans. Even the Royals are charmed; the fashionable Princess Marie of Denmark was spotted in 2011 buying herself some treasures in Pandora's Tokyo branch. It seems that the Enevoldsen couple's dream of opening a Pandora shop on every high street is increasingly becoming a reality.
