Jif® Announces Top Recipe Of Twelfth Annual Most Creative Sandwich Contest™

ORRVILLE, Ohio, March 21, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Jif® peanut butter, the choice of choosy moms everywhere, announced today that 12-year-old Leah T. from Allentown, Pa., is the Grand Prize Winner of the 12^th Annual Jif Most Creative Sandwich Contest™. The young chef received a $25,000 college fund for her winning recipe, Crunchy, Creamy, Dreamy Finger Sandwich, while four runner-ups each received a $2,500 college scholarship fund for their original sandwiches.

Leah's first place recipe features Jif Whips Creamy Whipped Peanut Butter as the base for her delicious sandwich made of ladyfingers, crushed pretzels, dulce de leche and milk chocolate.

"We're just so thankful to be here," said Leah's Mom Diane. "The contest has been a great bonding experience because we worked on the recipe together and then worked on getting the word out together and it was something she and I could share."

Sweet sandwiches were a trend this year with the four runner-up recipes featuring dessert-like creations highlighting the peanutty taste of Jif Creamy Peanut Butter or the indulgent flavor of Jif Chocolate Flavored Hazelnut Spread.

• Brownie Surprise created by Jenavieve C. a 9-year-old from Moorestown, NJ
• Peanut Butter S'mores Puff Sandwich created by Alyssa H. a 10-year-old from Hickory, NC
• Peanutty French Toast Roll-Up created by Julia B. an 8-year-old from East Longmeadow, MA

About the Contest

From August to November more than 200 teams of creative kids and their parents from across the country submitted original peanut butter sandwich recipes for a chance to win a college scholarship fund. Qualified recipes underwent an initial round of judging to determine 10 semi-finalists, who participated in an online vote. The top five finalists were selected based on a combination of online votes and the scores from the preliminary judging round. The recipe with the highest total score from the first two rounds was declared the Grand Prize Winner.
