Joanne De Silva Joins Ropes & Gray's Finance Practice in New York
Strengthens Firm's Direct Lending Capabilities
NEW YORK, Sept. 9, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- International law firm Ropes & Gray today announced that Joanne De Silva has joined the firm as a partner in its finance practice in New York.
Ms. De Silva focuses her practice on direct lending transactions, debt investments and debt restructurings across the capital structure. She represents business development companies, debt investment funds, banks and other institutional lenders in a variety of transactions, including unitranche, senior secured, mezzanine and other financing transactions. She also advises on intercreditor arrangements including agreements among lenders, first lien/second lien and split collateral intercreditor and other subordination agreements.
Prior to joining Ropes & Gray, Ms. De Silva spent 18 years in the Singapore and New York offices of Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP, including several years at Bingham McCutchen LLP in New York prior to its merger with Morgan, Lewis & Bockius in 2014.

Ms. De Silva received a B.A. in Jurisprudence from Oxford University in the United Kingdom. She is qualified to practice law in New York and is a solicitor in England and Wales. She was previously qualified as a barrister in England and Wales, and was a practicing advocate and solicitor in Singapore.
Ms. De Silva is the third finance partner to join Ropes & Gray in 2015. Partha Pal joined the firm in May in London with a focus on structured finance in the commercial real estate sector. In August, Chris McGarry joined the firm's finance practice, also in London, with a focus on collateralized loan obligations (CLOs) and securitizations.
