John Linders and Mark van der Linden Join Ryan as Principals; Will Lead Expansion of International Income Tax Services in Europe

They will extend Ryan's international income tax capabilities across Europe and provide global companies a comprehensive suite of multinational tax services.

John Linders will be based in Ryan's Amsterdam, Netherlands office. Mr. Linders has achieved industry recognition as a premier tax advisor, with a successful history of providing international tax planning strategies to a portfolio of leading global corporations. He has a strong network of United States clients and has advised Dutch and foreign multinational companies on a range of tax matters, specializing in reorganizations, mergers, and takeovers. Mr. Linders has published a number of articles sharing thought leadership on topics such as Dutch and United States cross-border issues, European Union taxation, and Dutch corporate income tax matters. He holds a Bachelor's degree and a Master of Law and Economics degree from Rotterdam University, with a specialty in tax.
Mark van der Linden will be based in Ryan's New York City office. Mr. Van der Linden is a Netherlands licensed tax attorney certified as a Foreign Legal Consultant by the State Bar of New York. Mr. Van der Linden has 20 years of experience handling a wide variety of international tax matters, assisting United States multinational corporations in establishing and structuring their international operations. He has also worked with global companies to structure foreign investment into the United States. Mr. Van der Linden specializes in the interaction between the United States and numerous foreign tax systems, with extensive experience in strategy development, mergers and acquisitions, and international group restructuring and financing. While based in the United States for more than 12 years, he has structured IP and real estate investments throughout the world and has handled various investments throughout Asia, Central America, and Latin America. Mr. Van der Linden is a frequent lecturer both in the United States and the Netherlands on international tax structuring and international real estate structuring, and has published numerous articles in the Netherlands on various tax subjects. He holds a Bachelor and a Master of Law degree from Tilburg University, with a specialty in tax. He also holds Tax Law certificates in the United States (Leiden University) and Australia (Rotterdam University).
Mr. Linders and Mr. Van der Linden have been working together in global tax for more than 16 years. Prior to joining Ryan, they worked for an international full-service law firm, serving clients from 35 offices in the United States, Latin America, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia. They also worked together for a global accounting firm in the Netherlands, where Mr. Linders served as senior partner and member of the Tax Board responsible for strategic tax relations in Europe, while Mr. Van der Linden was leading the United States international desk system based in Chicago and New York.
