CONNELLSVILLE, Pa., Dec. 4, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Ford Business Machines is proud to announce that Johnathan Garlow is the 2015 recipient of the Herman Buck Award.
Johnathan M. Garlow, President of Ford Business Machines of Connellsville, PA, received the Herman Buck Award on December 3, 2015 at the Nemacolin Woodlands Resort.
Awarded annually by the Fayette Chamber of Commerce, the Herman Buck Award is presented to a young man or woman under the age of 45 who has given his or her time and energy to community service. This person exemplifies unselfish commitment to the community, as did the late Herman M. Buck.
Johnathan is a graduate of Pennsylvania State University where he majored in Architectural Engineering. The 30-year old executive had planned a career as an engineer and was employed in Pittsburgh when his father, John M. Garlow, founder and CEO of Ford Business, asked him to join the family business as President.
As President, Johnathan has brought a new vision to Ford Business. "Our business will continue to evolve from a technological standpoint. We're moving away from the concept that someone just needs an office copier to encompass other areas such as 3-D printing. We offer a complete solution to our customer's needs, such as managed print services, IT services, document preservation and destruction."
He believes in community growth and providing employment opportunities for other young professionals. "We work with schools, local governments, law offices and small business in the southwestern PA and northern WV areas. I see the community growing, but we have to market and grow outside the area. I think that young people in our area need to know of the potential of staying local – not just for employment opportunities but for the quality of life. I love the outdoors, and nothing in the region compares to, for example, the beauty of Ohiopyle."
Johnathan serves on the board for many community service organizations, such as the YMCA, Westmoreland Fayette Council of the Boys Scouts of America, and Fay-Penn Economic Development Council.
