Join the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention in NYC for its 30th Overnight Walk

Suicide is a leading cause of death in the U.S. that affects countless people, from those at risk, to the thousands of family members, neighbors, friends, students and colleagues who have lost someone close to them. The Overnight brings people together each year, sharing their stories, supporting each other, and sending the message that suicide must be brought out of the darkness.

"We couldn't do this life-saving work without our generous donors. The Overnight is hugely important to AFSP's efforts in suicide prevention, helping support our research, advocacy and education initiatives nationwide," said AFSP Chief Executive Officer Robert Gebbia. "This year marks a special milestone for AFSP – our 30^th Overnight Walk – and we are excited to welcome walkers from all over to join us in our ever-critical mission."

The Overnight participants will gather for a night of hope and healing, walking more than 16 miles. In 2024, 2,000 Overnight participants raised a collective $3.4 million dollars – the most raised since the first Overnight event in 2002.

"The community of love and support is unmatched. Even if I've started out walking alone, I've met people along the way who helped me towards the finish line, and I've never crossed it alone. I find my people along the way, and it's a beautiful experience," shared Overnight Walker Alum Kallie B from Washington state with seven walks completed and already signed up for New York City's event.

The Overnight fosters a much-needed community for all of those on a journey to find healing, solidarity and understanding. Walkers form lifelong friendships and discover new ways to continue to contribute to this important cause, including volunteering with their local AFSP Chapters.
