Innovative Acoustic Solution for Aircrafts Receives US Patent
ZUG, Switzerland and ALEXANDRIA, Virginia, December 22, 2011 /PRNewswire/ --
2011 ends with welcome news. On 20 December 2011, the US patent office officially granted the patent certificate with the number US8079443 to the research and development company whose main focus is on the acoustic insulation for aircrafts and vehicles. The patent was granted for the "Aircraft trim panel with integrated adjustable acoustic properties" developed by Pelzer Consult.
The innovative aircraft trim panel developed by Hans-Peter Keller from Pelzer Consult reduces the noise level in the interior verifiably of up to 10 decibels. This makes them especially suited for the use in VIP aircrafts and helicopters as well as for First Class cabin and crew rest compartments.
In the long run, it may replace conventional aircraft trim panels, which still consists of solid layers at least to the interior side which create an undesired loudspeaker effect resulting in an increase of the noise level.
In contrast, the new trim panels from Pelzer Consult consist of acoustically open outer layers that let the sound pass and absorb it better. An additional decoupled sealing film prevents the airborne sound from entering the interior from the outer wall of the aircraft. With the same weight, this is an amazing improvement of the acoustics. It is the first time that a thermoplastic, 100% recyclable 3D supporting material has been used. It requires only a fraction of the production time.
The only platform in the world able to produce the new trim panel is the "Aircraft Composites Consortium" made up of the Swiss Companies Pelzer Consult GmbH and Plastika Balumag AG and the German Tubus Bauer GmbH.
