Justworks Launches New Tool to Help Businesses Offer COVID-19-Related Paid Leave

NEW YORK, April 3, 2020 /PRNewswire/ -- Justworks, the nation's fastest-growing HR technology company, announced the launch of a new tool to help its customers navigate the COVID-19-related paid leave newly mandated by the Families First Coronavirus Response Act (FFCRA). Congress passed the FFCRA in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Its paid leave provisions went into effect on April 1, 2020. Small businesses across the country are already using the tool to schedule and provide paid leave to their employees who have been impacted by COVID-19, as well as automatically claim the applicable tax credits directly in the Justworks platform.

The FFCRA requires businesses with fewer than 500 employees to provide their employees with paid leave for qualifying reasons related to COVID-19. The FFCRA also allows employers to claim payroll tax credits to cover the cost of this required leave. With its rapid legislative response, however, Congress unintentionally created a massive administrative burden downstream for the employers trying to implement these new worker protections. With Justworks, businesses can seamlessly schedule COVID-19-related paid leave, keep their employees on payroll, and claim the applicable tax credits offered by the government to pay for their leave in full.

This feature will help small businesses remain compliant with the new leave requirements from day one.

The FFCRA was signed into law on March 18, 2020, and its paid leave provisions went into effect on April 1, 2020.
