JUVA Skin & Laser Center Pioneers New FDA-Approved Cellulaze Treatment
Dr. Bruce Katz Provides Women With Highly Anticipated, Minimally Invasive, Long-Lasting Cellulite Reduction Treatment
NEW YORK, Jan. 30, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- For the 80% of women who live with and battle the appearance of cellulite, the wait for a "miracle treatment" is finally over thanks to a groundbreaking new procedure called Cellulaze. For the past two years Dr. Bruce Katz, founder of the JUVA Skin & Laser Center and one of the original pioneers of SmartLipo™, has been the sole dermatologist in the U.S. to conduct the clinical trials of Cellulaze that have led to its recent FDA clearance. Cellulaze can now offer patients the ability to truly make their dimpled skin vanish with a quick and easy treatment that boasts long lasting results.
Cellulite is one of the biggest cosmetic problems plaguing patients and doctors alike and, up until now, treatment involved costly procedures that required multiple applications but only offered short-term results. Cellulaze has the ability, through one application, to reduce the appearance of cellulite by utilizing state of the art technology to eliminate cellulite and stop future growth.
Cellulaze begins by making an incision (so small it is covered with a band aide) on the treatment area and administering a numbing solution beneath the epidermis. The device's novel 1440 nm Nd:YAG laser with a Sidelight 3D™ optical fiber transmits energy bi-directionally under the skin to thermally smooth out fat cells and heat dermal tissue to promote skin thickening and tightening; resulting in tighter and smoother skin. Patients can go back to work shortly following the treatment as healing is quick and only requires a protective undergarment to be worn for seven days.
Unlike existing cellulite laser treatments that utilize radiofrequency or laser energy over the epidermis, this new device fights cellulite from under the skin and attacks the fibrous septae and fat cells that are the main causes of cellulite.
The JUVA Skin and Laser Center in New York recently conducted an IRB approved study of 15 women and applied a new, groundbreaking laser technology called Cellulaze to cellulite of the thighs. This fast and minimally invasive procedure was administered once to each patient and follow-up was conducted every three months for two years following the treatment. Patients' quantifiable results were measured by Canfield's Vectra 3D Surface Imaging and supported by digital photography, patient and physician questionnaires and histologic evaluation. The study concluded that 68% of subjects showed significant improvement in cellulite by photographic evaluation and 65% with Vectra 3D Surface Imaging, which quantified results versus relying solely on a photographic evaluation. Patient & physician evaluations revealed good-excellent results in 76% and 69% of cases, respectively.
"The JUVA Skin & Laser Center has been at the forefront of laser technology for years and to-date there have been no laser technologies that have had significant, lasting benefits for cellulite," said Dr. Bruce Katz, the only dermatologist in the U.S. that has been able to utilize this new technology. "Cellulaze has proven, long-term results that have far surpassed my expectations. I am confident it will be changing the way doctors approach cellulite treatment for good as one treatment can treat cellulite in the long term without any maintenance."
