NORTHBROOK, Ill., Sept. 1, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Kalohexis, Inc., a clinical-stage biotechnology company harnessing the melanocortin system to shape the next era of metabolic disease care starting with obesity and cancer cachexia, today announced the appointment of Garry Menzel, Ph.D., to its Board of Directors.
"Garry is a seasoned global healthcare executive with a very strong track record in advising and leading successful life sciences companies," said Russell Potterfield, Chief Executive Officer of Kalohexis. "He has used those skills in many situations that are relevant for Kalohexis and proven himself adept at integrating effectively with different teams to produce lifesaving therapies. I look forward to working with him as we advance our differentiated melanocortin-based approach to restoring metabolic balance."
Dr. Menzel is a senior global healthcare executive and investor with a diverse background in science, strategy, finance and operations. "Kalohexis has the opportunity to transform the treatment of obesity with 710GO by enabling healthier, more durable weight loss in general obesity without the limitations seen with incretins, such as loss of lean muscle mass and weight rebound following treatment cessation," said Dr. Menzel. "I am passionate about developing novel therapies and look forward to working with Kalohexis as the team advances its melanocortin-based pipeline, which also includes mifomelatide for cancer cachexia, where there are currently no FDA-approved treatment options."
Dr. Menzel received his Ph.D. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from St. John's College, University of Cambridge, his M.B.A. from the Stanford University Graduate School of Business, and his B.Sc. with Honors in Biochemistry from Imperial College of Science & Technology, London.
