Kareo Clinical Achieves 2015 Edition Health IT Certification

IRVINE, Calif., Jan. 30, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Kareo, the leading provider of cloud-based clinical and business management software for independent medical practices, today announced that Kareo Clinical passed the 2015 Edition Health IT Certification Criteria. Kareo's EHR (electronic health records) includes a range of features that help reduce provider workload and improve delivery of patient care. Kareo has taken this same user friendly approach in enabling providers to comply with MACRA requirements. Clinicians using Kareo Clinical EHR are not asked to enter additional data for reporting on MIPS measures. Providers simply chart as usual, and Kareo's automated reporting and tracking system keeps them on the path to earning the most in positive adjustments.

A setup wizard helps them walk through the steps for selecting measures. Afterward, the dashboards show progress scores on MIPS Quality and Advancing Care Information measures. Clinicians are also prompted with tips on how to improve scores.
• In addition to its unique user-friendly MIPS reporting system, Kareo Clinical provides functionalities that meet 2015 certification criteria calling for: viewing, downloading and transmitting health information to a third party; secure messaging; patient health information capture; transitions of care; and application programming interfaces (APIs).

Achieving 2015 Edition certification is a significant step for EHR suppliers, and Kareo is among an increasingly smaller group of companies maintaining Meaningful Use certification. With each additional level of regulatory requirements, the list of Meaningful Use and MACRA-compliant EHR products has declined significantly. When the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services first began regulating EHR use in 2011, the market was flooded with over 500 EHR vendors. This number dropped by a third for the 2014 Edition certification; and according to the Office of the National Coordinator (ONC), in 2018 slightly more than 100 vendors have passed the most recent certification criteria (2015 Edition).
