Ken Kocienda, Author and former Apple software engineer to present "The Path Isn't Straight" at Barrington High School

BARRINGTON, Ill., April 5, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- MobileMakersEdu and Barrington District 220 are pleased to present an evening with Ken Kocienda, former Apple software engineer, designer and author of the Wall Street Journal best-seller, "Creative Selection: Inside Apple's Design Process During the Golden Age of Steve Jobs." Kocienda will be sharing his personal career development experience, "The Path Isn't Straight," which led him to Apple. The presentation will take place Wednesday, April 10, 2019, at 7 p.m., Barrington High School Auditorium, Barrington, Illinois.

Kocienda earned a degree in History from Yale University in 1988 and proceeded to work in a variety of fields including motorcycle repair, the editorial library of a newspaper, teaching English in Japan and developing cloud-based software. In 2001, he joined Apple and for the next 15 years, Kocienda created groundbreaking user interface concepts and wrote easy-to-use software for the iPhone, the iPad and the Safari web browser. He developed the first touch screen keyboard and is credited for inventing the touch screen autocorrection feature for the original iPhone.

After leaving Apple in 2017, Kocienda decided to write a book about his career at Apple during a time of explosive creativity and innovation. In the book, Kocienda shares his experiences working with brilliant people, driven by a demanding leader, to create products that people use to communicate, educate, entertain and connect themselves with others all over the world. The struggles, the hard work and the thrill of success are all addressed in "Creative Selection."
