LEXINGTON, Ky., Sept. 16, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Patients, prospective patients and anyone interested in learning more about Kentucky's medical cannabis program will have an opportunity to hear directly from professionals working across the industry at the Kentucky Cannabis & Wellness Expo on Saturday, September 19, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Central Bank Center in Lexington.

Hosted by the Kentucky Cannabis Industry Association (KCIA), the free community event will bring together medical cannabis businesses, healthcare professionals, patient advocates and industry experts for a full day of education, resources and direct access to the people helping build Kentucky's emerging medical cannabis program.

A medical cannabis card is not required to attend, and admission to the Expo is free.

Education for Patients at Every Stage

Educational programming will run throughout the day, with panel discussions designed to answer many of the questions patients and prospective patients have as Kentucky's medical cannabis program continues to develop.

Topics will range from an introduction to Kentucky's program and the patient certification process to cannabis fundamentals, product types, dosing considerations, concentrates, vapes and edibles. The day will conclude with an open patient Q&A, giving attendees an opportunity to ask questions directly to professionals working throughout the industry.

Panelists and speakers will represent organizations across Kentucky's medical cannabis landscape, including the Kentucky Cannabis Industry Association, Kentucky Marijuana Card, Speakeasy Dispensary, Blügrass, Dark Horse Cannabis, High Profile Dispensary, and Toro Infused.

The programming is intended to make both the medical cannabis program and the products available within it easier to understand, particularly for Kentuckians who may be interested in becoming patients but are unsure where to begin.

Sessions will address practical questions such as how Kentucky's medical cannabis program works, qualifying conditions, what happens during a certification appointment, what patients should expect after becoming certified and how to better understand the different products available through licensed dispensaries.

Product-focused discussions will also break down topics including cannabinoids and terpenes, reading product labels, methods of administration, edible onset and dosing, vape cartridges and concentrates, with industry professionals helping translate unfamiliar terminology into information patients can use when speaking with dispensary staff.

$25 Patient Certifications Available On-Site

For eligible Kentuckians ready to take the next step, the Expo will also include a $25 low-cost medical cannabis patient drive for both new certifications and renewals.

Healthcare providers and support staff will be available on-site to help patients through the process, including certification evaluations, notary services and assistance completing the state application.

The patient drive is designed to make certification more accessible while giving prospective patients an opportunity to ask questions and receive support throughout the process.

The certification cost is $25, with an additional $25 state application fee required by the Commonwealth of Kentucky.

Pre-registration is encouraged to save time at your appointment; walk-in appointments will also be available.

Beyond the educational stage and patient drive, attendees will be able to explore expo booths and connect directly with licensed dispensaries, cultivators, processors, healthcare professionals and other organizations serving Kentucky patients.
