BEIJING, Aug. 23, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- In another milestone for Keystone and its growing community, the school is now an authorized SAT Test Center. This comes close on the heels of the school's WASC authorization, and IB Diploma accreditation. The entire school community, Keystone students and faculty were very pleased with this exciting development.
"This is a notable achievement for such a young school," said Head of School, Malcolm McKenzie, adding, "It is testimony to the fact that many substantial educational agencies around the world are aware of Keystone and the high quality of our operation and aspiration. The fact that many of our graduates will go to American colleges and universities makes it imperative for them to go through the SAT process. It is so much easier for them to be able to do this here, in a venue which is convenient and which they know."
SAT is a standardized admission test accepted by many U.S. colleges, and is a bridge between high school and university. It assesses if a student is college ready. This globally recognized test is owned and published by the College Board -- a private non-profit organization -- with a membership association of over 6,000 of the world's leading educational institutions. SAT consists of three sections: Mathematics, Critical Reading and Writing.
According to the College Board, "SAT test centers help students take that important first step on the road to college success. By becoming a test center, you will not only help connect motivated students to the SAT, SAT Subject Tests, and associated college planning resources, but you will also expose more students overall to the opportunities of higher education."
One of Keystone's college counselors, Percy Jiang, was very pleased with the school's authorization: "This is perfect. Usually the test is on a Saturday. So Chinese students have to fly to Hong Kong or elsewhere on Friday, which will impact on their regular school attendance. This can be quite burdensome for teachers, parents and students, especially in the case of high school students who cannot afford to miss classes. Now Keystone students can take this very strict, yet necessary test in a place they are familiar with, and be more relaxed. It is especially convenient for Keystone boarders who also do not have to worry about transportation. And since Keystone is a test center, we can also have more contacts with the College Board."
Keystone's faculty and administration continue to pave the way forward for our students, and their paths towards global citizenship.
