KGD Architecture welcomes Thomas Donaghy, Architecture Director
ARLINGTON, Va., Aug. 8, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- KGD Architecture welcomes Thomas Donaghy, AIA, LEED AP as Architecture Director. Mr. Donaghy brings 18 years of design excellence experience to the already vibrant office of KGD Architecture. His work in the United States ranges from large urban projects to single works of civic, cultural, and commercial architecture and is consistently sympathetic to contextual environments, sense of place and the connection between human experience and sustainable practices. Recently, Mr. Donaghy's design for the Maryland District Court of Rockville received an Award of Excellence from the 2012 AIA/AAJ as well as NAIOP MD/DC.

Tom received his Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Arizona. It is there where he learned about the true meaning of contextual architecture and the division of style as it relates to the environment. He continues his education by traveling the world looking to understand this relationship. Tom enjoys a reputation in the industry of being easy to work with, possessing good communication skills and client satisfaction. He is a passionate designer and is known for his sketching as the basis for visual communication. Tom loves mentoring and teaching in the office and has had the honor to participate in critiques at local universities. When the opportunity presents itself, he also enjoys presenting his thoughts and projects to others; most notably to the AIA Academy of Architecture for Justice National Conference 2011.
