King Oaks Community Donates Autographed Johnny Manziel Helmet to Support Wounded Veteran

BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION, Texas, Feb. 14, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- King Oaks, Bryan-College Station's premier, master-planned community, has partnered with Operation FINALLY HOME and the Aggieland community to honor Sergeant Monte Bernardo of the 82^nd Airborne Division of the United States Army with a one-acre home site and a mortgage-free, custom home in the King Oaks community. In addition to donating the land on which the home will be built, King Oaks is sponsoring the online giveaway of an autographed Johnny Manziel helmet to raise money to furnish and decorate the home for Sgt. Bernardo and his family.

While serving his second tour of duty in Afghanistan, Bernardo was critically injured by an IED blast on July 4, 2012. The injuries he sustained resulted in the loss of three of his limbs, including both legs, which were amputated above the knees, and his left hand. Bernardo was awarded a Purple Heart and recognized for his service with several military commendations.

The fundraiser, which ends May 8, 2013, is a tiered-donation sweepstakes. Participants are entered to win the Texas A&M football helmet, which is signed by 2012 Heisman Trophy winner and Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel, when they submit an online donation to help build a mortgage-free custom home for Sgt. Monte Bernardo. The level of donation determines the number of entries into the sweepstakes, and is broken down as follows:

• $10 donation garners one entry into the giveaway
• $25 donation garners three entries into the giveaway
• $100 donation garners 15 entries into the giveaway
• $500 donation garners 100 entries into the giveaway
• $1,000 donation garners 250 entries into the giveaway
